International Students
International students come to PentVars because of the benefits they gain — PentVars offers the opportunity to experience cultural diversity at its richest. Our learning environment is exceptional and students are able to fulfill their academic ambitions in a Christian ambiance.
The International Community is fairly represented at Pentecost University College. We currently have students from Botswana, Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Lesotho, Madagascar, Nigeria, Togo, Seychelles, Sierra Leone and Zambia.
About Ghana
Ghana, a country on the West Coast of Africa, is one of the most thriving democracies on the continent. It has often been referred to as an "isle of peace" in one of the most unstable sub-regions in Africa. It shares boundaries with Togo to the east, la Cote d'Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north and the Gulf of Guinea, to the south.
Ghana has several tourist attractions such as history, culture, eco-tourism, recreation and events. Most of the major international airlines fly into and from the Kotoka International Airport in Accra. Domestic air travel is thriving and the country has a vibrant telecommunications sector, with five cellular phone operators and several internet service providers.
Land area
The country has a total land area of 239460 square kilometers.
Climate
Ghana has a tropical climate. There are two major seasons in Ghana, the dry season (harmattan) and the wet (rainy) season.
Population
The recent census of 2011 estimates the population of Ghana at 25 000 000.
Language
The official language in Ghana is English and is universally used in schools in addition to nine local dialects.
People
Ghanaians are probably one of the warmest, most welcoming and friendliest people you will come across. It is an observation most people who visit the country make.
Entry requirements
Qualifications acceptable for admissions include the following:
- Senior Secondary School Certificates (SSSCE/WASSSCE)
- Baccalaureate (French)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- GCE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels
- IGCSE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels
- American High School Grade – Grade 12 and 13 examinations
- Other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE/SSSCE and the GCE (A Levels)
General Entry Requirements for SSSCE/WASSSCE Applicants
To be admitted to any Degree programme, Senior High School graduates must possess at least credits (A1 - C6 in WASSSCE and A – D in SSSCE) in English, Core Mathematics and Agricultural Science/Biology in addition to the specified requirements for various programmes.
General Entry Requirements for all other Applicants
IGCSE/IB - To be admitted to any Degree programme, IGCSE/IB graduates must possess at least Grades A*/A - C in English, Mathematics and Biology at the Standard (SL)/’O’ Level in addition to three Higher Level (HL – A to C)/’A’ Level (A to D)/IB 2 (A - C) grades in the specified requirements for various programmes.
All admissions will be to Level 100
Certificate In English Proficiency
Proficiency in English Language (For applicants from non-English speaking countries only)
Prospective applicants who are waiting for the declaration of their baccalaureate results may apply before the deadline otherwise they cannot be considered for admission. They need not wait for the declaration of their results before applying.
Application Process
The application process may start as early as a year before the start date of your programme of study. It is important that you understand clearly all the stages involved and that you ask the International Relations Office (iarm@pentvars.edu.gh) for assistance if you have any questions.

Online application
- Go to the admissions tab
- Click on the Online Admissions link
- Fill the forms appropriately
- Click on the send button when you are done
- Print a copy of the filled forms
- After completing and submitting the form on-line, applicants are to print a proof of submission.
- Add all relevant certificates and send to the address given below with a non-refundable International Money Order of $50.

Passports
All international students must have passports from their governments before they can enter the country.
Visas
Students arriving in Ghana from ECOWAS Countries are not required to obtain visas since Ghana is a member of the ECOWAS and subscribes to the protocol on free movement. Non-ECOWAS students require a visa.
Resident Permit
Residential permits (renewable annually) are processed by the Public Affairs Unit when International Students have fully registered.

Fees
Tuition fees vary depending on the course and level of study but range between $1,000 and $1,200 for the 2012/13 academic year. Please follow this link for more information on tuition and other fees.
