PUC Alumni Organise Skills and Employability Summit for Undergrads

A Pentecost University College Alumnus and founder of SkillsGap, Mr Robert Inkoom has organised a skill and employability summit for students of PUC to enhance their employability and inculcate an entrepreneurial mindset in them.

According to Mr. Inkoom, our generation is made up of millennial who lack basic skill sets that are needed by recruiters in the world of work. This, he said, “is mostly due to the rote nature of the educational systems in Africa which has accounted for the huge skills gaps that exist between industry and academia”.

In view of this, Mr. Inkoom together with other alumni of Penvars namely Mr Emmanuel Kofi Opoku, Mr. Eric Arthur, Mr Bernard Nunoo and Ms Priscilla Amoako collaborated to found a social enterprise called SkillsGap to help train undergrads to become job-ready.

The maiden summit was graced by the Rector of Pentvars, Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker and other renowned entrepreneurs and industry leaders such as Ms Emmaline Datey (HR and Administration Manager, EIB Network), Mr. Nicholas Bortey (CEO, Liranz Limited), Mr. Andrew Manomey (HR Manager, Omnibank Ghana) and Mr. Timothy Adei (MD, Certified Ghana).

The event is scheduled to be organized annually to help students and the unemployed build aptitude towards work and help them garner valuable resourceful for leadership and career success.
