The SRC traces its history to the year 2005 when the first set of students admitted into the University College saw the need to have students leadership to champion the course of students between the student body and administration and the student body and those outside the University Community. The first set of executives were appointed from all the three faculties of the university College and constituted an interim executive Council with Nana Agyemang Jackson (Rev)(BA Theo) as the President.

Until 2006 when the first constitutionally elected council executives were inducted into office on the 31st October, 2006 by the Registrar of the University College (Gibson Annor-Antwi, Mr) to serve for an academic year, with Eric Nana Adobah Thompson(BSc Admin, HRM Option) as President. Some dignitaries that were present during the Induction included the then Rector, Opoku Onyinah (Aps. Dr.), The Dean Of Students, Joshua Yirenkyi-Smart (Rev), Dean Of Theology and missions, E. K Anim (Rev. Dr),The General Secretary to the Ghana Pentecostal Council, Ekow Badu-Wood (Aps), The Administrative Secretary to the General Secretary Of the Church Of Pentecost, J. K Assabil (Ps) and other members of faculty. In all a thirteen member executive committee were inducted

COMMITTEES

The SRC in its governance has sub committees such as the Welfare, Judicial, Editorial, Disciplinary etc that handles issues relating to them and reports to the executive council and the General Assembly. The latter is made up of presidents and heads of various clubs and associations, Faculty representatives and it’s the highest decision making body of the SRC

The Following are the core principles of the SRC that guides its deliberations including policies, campaigns, internal operations and processes etc.
