PUC is the Most Outstanding and Over All Best Private University in Ghana
Pentecost University College (PUC) has been adjudged the Most Outstanding and Overall Best Private University in Ghana for 2019. The University received this award at the 2019 Annual PUSAG Congress which took place at the All Nations University, Koforidua.
The award is in recognition of the performance of the university in all facets of student development and affirms the position of PUC as a leading private university in Ghana.
PUC students are equipped with the best teaching resources, training methods and practical exposure encapsulated in Christian principles so that their lives are shaped for the challenging world out there. PUC faculty are a blend of academic professionals and experienced industry leaders who combine theory with practice in their deliveries.
The University library is a full member of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH). Membership to the consortium enables PUC Library to subscribe and provide easy access to over 80,000 full text scholarly electronic journal articles to enhance teaching, learning and research. In addition, the E-library subscribes to more than 26 online academic databases such as Emerald, EsbcoHost, SAGE and WHO publications.
Over the years, students of PUC have occupied positions of repute both locally and internationally. In 2017, an Alumnus of PUC, Mr. Steven Blessing Ackah, was selected as the first Black African to chair the G200 Youth Summit on New Strategies for Financial Sector and World Economy Committee under the Ministers for Economy Delegation at the 2017 G200 Youth Summit.
PUC is the biggest ABE Centre in West Africa and among ABE’s Top 40 Centres from over 200 Centres globally. ABE Students at PUC are listed among ABE’s Global Top Paper Award Winners.
PUC won the 2017 Career Development and Business Challenge Competition organized by L’AINE Services. PUC Students emerged the overall Best Institution at the 2018 PUSAG games held in Kumasi after winning thirteen (13) trophies out of seventeen (17).
The IT Department won the Ghana HACKATON Contest in 2016, a programme organized by Technology Executives Conference (INNOVATE) for students to showcase their creative skills in Technology.
Pentecost University College has over the years built a strong reputation as a student-centred college with special programmes tailored to meet the needs of students. The College Assembly, a gathering of the university community, provides students with the opportunity to interact with distinguished and experienced industry players. The meetings are geared towards equipping students and staff with skills and values essential in contemporary workplaces. The Assembly also provides a platform for students to nurture and display their talents and academic prowess.
There is also the Prayer Festival, an annual spiritual activity, during which the university community meets to lift prayers and supplications for wisdom, protection, grace, as well as pray for PUC, the Church, Ghana and the global community.
The Mentorship programme provides an opportunity for students to have a one-on-one interaction with Senior Members and other senior students of the university. The programme impacts the lives of students spiritually, morally and academically. Students receive guidance on matters spanning all aspects of life.
PUC is the only private tertiary institution which owns a recognised refereed journal, Pentvars Business Journal, in Ghana,
The Reading Week is a university-wide programme aimed at inculcating in students the drive to undertake rigorous research; review and augment their course work while Faculty build capacity in research and teaching skills.
With these internal and external programmes, the University is always positioned to achieving laurels. According to Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker, Rector of the College, the successes have been attained with the help of committed, dedicated and tireless Management, staff and the entire student body. “We ask for more grace to do more because this is just but the beginning,” he stated.
