Prof. Omane-Antwi honoured at the 4th Ghana Finance Innovation Awards
The Vice-Rector and Dean of Pentecost University College Graduate School, Prof. Kwame Boasiako Omane-Antwi, received a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 4th Ghana Finance Innovation Award 2018, which was held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, on Friday, 19th October 2018.
The award is in recognition of Prof. Omane-Antwi’s outstanding service in commerce and public practice in Ghana, Liberia, the UK and USA. It is also to acknowledge his remarkable innovation, tireless efforts and contribution to the finance sector as demonstrated during his tenure as the Head of Professional Bodies, which includes: The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), The Institute of Directors, Ghana (2006 – 2008) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Ghana branch.
The honour also recognizes his immense contributions to the industry on the global stage, having consulted for international organisations on alternative livelihood projects such as the World Bank, DFID of the UK, Golden Star Resources Ltd. (USA Mining Company in Ghana) and FMO of Netherlands. It is also for his rich diversity and experience in education – thirty-nine years as a university lecturer in Accounting, Finance, Auditing and Management Science in institutions such as the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi; University of Cape Coast, University of Education, Winneba – Kumasi Campus; Kumasi Technical University; and the University of Liberia, among others.
Prof. Omane-Antwi’s contribution to public practice in Ghana, especially during his two years at the New Times Corporation, saw a face-lift of the corporation. It was during his leadership that a five-year strategic plan (2015-2019) for the development of the corporation was initiated and adopted; and also a process to convert the corporation into a limited liability company to improve its adaptability and competitiveness, started.
His tireless efforts and outstanding leadership style as the Board Chairman of Graphic Communication Group Limited moved GCGL to a very respectable level.
A fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK) and an alumnus of Oxford Business School, Green Templeton College, University of Oxford (Oxonian Number 8-10273254), UK, Prof. Omane-Antwi has eight (8) textbooks, forty-three (43) refereed journal articles, one hundred and seven (107) conference and consultancy papers and other publications to his credit.
Receiving the honour, Prof. Omane-Antwi dedicated the award to God Almighty and to His Lovely Wife for her support and contributions to his achievements in life, especially this particular award.
According to Mr Akin Naphtal, CEO of InstinctWave, organisers of the award ceremony, “We cannot underestimate the role of the financial sector and its importance to national development. It is an honour to celebrate with organisations at the forefront of promoting economic growth and lifting the veil on individuals and firms that have contributed immensely to the sector.”
Mr Naphtal emphasised that a robust financial unit is akin to the success of any organisation, keeping the business financially sound while implementing successful strategies.
