Pofile - Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker

 

walker2Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker is a minister of the gospel, lecturer and motivational speaker. He is an International conference speaker overflowing with the anointing of the Holy Spirit and as a theologian and teacher, God is using him mightily to affect lives in this generation. 

Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker was born on April 11, 1959 at Kadjebi in the Volta Region of Ghana to the late Apostle Frederick Diabene Walker and Mrs. Florence Odi Walker. He had a successful basic education in the Volta Region. However, because of the nature of the work of the parents, transfers whisked them away from one part of the globe to another from time to time. He joined Suhum Secondary Technical School for his GCE ‘O’ Level and also Assemblies of God Senior High School in Monrovia, Liberia where he completed his GCE ‘A’ Level. Apostle Dr. Walker, very enthusiastic and zealous with his academic prowess completed the University of Liberia in 1985 with B.A. Geography/Economics. He concurrently started working as a Teaching Assistant with the Department of Geography, University of Liberia and pursued MSc. Regional Planning at the same University. Apostle Dr. Walker upon completion of his MSc. Regional Planning became a full time lecturer with the University of Liberia from 1987 to 1989.

Apostle Dr. Walker worked as a Research and Evaluation Coordinator, Foster Parents Plan International, Liberia from 1987-1990. He later relocated to Ghana and served as the Greater Accra Regional Administrator, National Service Secretariat, Accra from the year 1991-1993.

Apostle Dr. Walker was called into the full time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in the year 1993 and was called to the office of an Apostle in the year 2015.

As a full-time minister, he did not relent on his quest for knowledge as he pursued a Certificate programme at the then Pentecost Bible College in 1994 after which he won a scholarship in 1999 with the Research Unit for New Religious Movement (RUNERM) for his M.A. Mission Studies at the University of Birmingham, UK. Apostle Dr. Walker in the year 2010 completed his PhD in Theology with the University of Birmingham.

Apostle Dr. Walker has served the church in several ways in various jurisdictions in Liberia, UK and Ghana. At the moment he is a member of the Literature Committee, Board Member of Pentecost Theological Seminary, Area Executive Member, Kaneshie and Resident Minister of Pentecost International Worship Center, Kaneshie.

At the academic front, Apostle Dr. Walker has participated in numerous International Conferences and seminars. Notable among them are - the European Research Network on Global Pentecostalism (GloPent), Birmingham, UK, January 2006; GloPent, Amsterdam, Holland, April 2007; GloPent, Heidelberg, Germany, February 2008; GloPent, Birmingham, UK, February 2009; SPS, USA, 2009; Norface Conference, Amsterdam, Holland, September 2009; International Association for Mission Studies, Paris, France, August 2006. Just to name a few.

In addition to lecturing at the Pentecost University College, Apostle Dr. Walker served as Dean, Pentecost Bible College (2003-2004). He was also the Head of Department of Church History and Mission, Pentecost University College (2004-2005), Dean of Students, Pentecost University College (2004-2005); Adjunct Lecturer, Pentecost Theological Seminary, Accra; Visiting Lecturer, Pentecost Leadership Training Institute, Leominster, Massachusetts, USA; Dean of Students, Pentecost Univ. College (August 2011 – to date).

Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker is married to Mrs. Irene Odi Walker, a teacher by profession. They are blessed with two biological children and three adopted children. 

With his wealth of experiences in both ministry, academia and administration, the PUC Council in consultation with the Executive Council of the Church of Pentecost (as provided in the PUC Statutes) have appointed Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker the 3RD RECTOR OF THE PENTECOST UNIVERSITY COLLEGE WITH EFFECT FROM 1ST AUGUST, 2016.
