Pentecost University Holds 2022 Staff & Management Fasting and Prayer Retreat

A two-day Staff & Management Prayer and Fasting Retreat commenced on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Pentecost University to usher in the New Year and also pray for direction and prosperity for the institution.

Opening the retreat on the first day, the Chaplain of the University, Reverend Nelson Adu, welcomed all staff including Key Officers, Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments, to the two-day event.
The Vice-Chancellor, Aps. Prof. Kwabena Ayapong-Kodua, giving a short Word of Exhortation, said that one needs directions when embarking on a journey. Through astute analyses, Aps. Prof. Agyapong-Kodua drew staff’s attention to the reality that “even in the best of technologies and systems, there are instances where we are called to make a U-turn or recalculate”, pointing to the fact that it is imperative to get right directions from reliably informed sources. Deepening these profound thoughts, the Vice-Chancellor further noted that because Pentecost University has no clue about what 2022 has in store for the institution, it is prudent to invite the One who has walked through the times, to take charge: His name is Jesus Christ.

Admonishing staff further, Aps. Prof. Agyapong-Kodua pointed out the need for them to draw their hearts to focus on Jesus and have Him direct them because “we cannot get to where we want to get to unless we invite Jesus to direct us so that we do not lose our way”.

Reading from Hebrews 4:14, he said that staff must “hook onto Jesus”, the great High Priest, to reserve seats for the institution so that “among all the mountains of education, Pentecost University’s mountain will be lifted high for all to see what the Lord has done”.

“There may be side attractions but I want you to tell God that you are not interested in anything that is outside His will. If you are in an institution like Pentecost University, then you must take this prayer seriously because whether you like it or not, institutions define our way of life; institutions affect our thinking; institutions create focus; institutions create direction; institutions affect our families. If the institution is not aligned with the will of God, your own life can also be affected”, the Vice-Chancellor stated.

Leading the prayer time, the Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research, Aps. Dr. Christian Tsekpoe, encouraged staff that “Emmanuel” is with Pentecost University and that 2022 will be a year of progress and prosperity for the institution.

Bringing the programme to a close, the Vice-Chancellor shared the theme for The Church of Pentecost for the year 2022: “Equipping the Church as an Army to Possess the Nations”. He then stated that Pentecost University can adapt the theme: “Equipping Pentecost University as an Army to Possess the Nations”. According to him, Pentecost University is a place of action that must cultivate the presence of God and be a “seat of power as far as Godly education and transformation are concerned”.
