Pentecost University Holds Beginning of Semester Retreat at PSTM
Pentecost University held a retreat for its Management and heads of departments. The retreat included all faculty members and took place at the Pentecost School of Theology and Mission between the 19th and 20th of April 2023. It was on the theme of “repositioning the university for maximum impact.”
In opening the retreat, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua commended the staff for their commitment to the University. He also reiterated the themes of the previous retreat which included gratitude, the PU brand, loyalty and love.
In his main addresses, the Vice-Chancellor challenged the staff to “become something” out of the transformation taking place at PU. He spoke on “What must we become out of what God is doing?” As such, Prof. Agyapong-Kodua said God is doing mighty things in the University that staff members have to be enthused and become direct beneficiaries of His goodness.
On leadership, the VC charged his managers to choose the path of spiritual leadership. According to the Apostle, there are differences between natural and spirit-led leaders. He explained that “while the natural leader dwells on self-confidence, the spirit-led leader has his or her confidence in the Lord, while natural leaders are competitive, spirit-led leaders follow the examples of Christ and while the natural leader knows people, the spirit-led leader knows God.” On this basis, the VC asked the staff to dwell on God to help them move their units and departments positively.
On performance, Prof. Agyapong-Kodua asked the heads to continually study to stay ahead of the students in their respective fields. The VC said, “in the knowledge field, lecturers should continually sharpen themselves to train students who will be better than their peers.”
Apart from the Vice-Chancellor, other speakers included the Dean of Students Affairs, Rev. Adu Nelson and Aps. Dr Christian Tsekpoe, the Head of the Department of Ministerial Formation and Training gave exhortations and led prayers respectively.
Also, the Deans and Directors of the PU Institutes and Centres presented reports that cover the first quarter activities in their respective faculties and units. The various presentations reflected the University A+ agenda of creating a morally upright and intellectually stimulating environment that trains students to solve problems.
Pentecost University holds a significant retreat at the beginning of every semester to prepare administrative and faculty staff members for the academic season. This one was meant to prepare them for the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year.
