Message from the Chaplain

Pentecost University is a Christian University established by The Church of Pentecost. The University upholds Christian principles and virtues. As a Christian university, we aspire to produce graduates who are passionate about how their education can be used to benefit others and to make our world a better place for all. The University seeks among other things to provide wholistic education to produce scholars who are fully prepared to serve their generation and help change society for the better. This kind of education is what has been called the (3H’s) that is, training the Head, Heart and Hand; in other words, we provide the type of education which equips students with academic knowledge, morals and skills.

The Chaplaincy plays an important role in the realization of the overall objectives of Pentecost University College. Chaplaincy has the responsibility of training the hearts of individuals who pass through the University College. We ensure that students and staff who pass through the college acquire some moral training which will make them different wherever they find themselves. We seek to serve the spiritual needs of the University community, and we are delighted to be of service to students, faculty, and staff, regardless of religious background.

The Chaplaincy sees PUC campus as a mission field with a mandate of leading students and staff to the saving knowledge of Our Lord Jesus. At PUC we introduce students and staff to the spiritual dimensions of life. We have a number of programmes which aim at bringing students closer to God and helping them to experience Him in their lives. We encourage all students and staff to have an intimate relationship with God. Programmes tailored to meet the above objectives are Commencement and Thanksgiving Services, College Assembly, Prayerfest, Missions, Mentorship, Guidance and Counselling and Staff Devotion.

Some prominent speakers who have been invited to share with the students and staff included the following: Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah, Apostle (Dr.) Amos Jimmy Markings, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Rev. (Mrs.) Adeline Mensah, Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei, Bishop James Saah, Rev. Steve Mensah, Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Akrah-Badu, Rev. Prof. Stephen Addei, Rev. (Dr.) Emmanuel Hopeson, Prof. Joseph Osafo, Apostle Prof. Peter Ohene Kyei, Aps. Dr. Ben Ali, Mrs. Grace Lucy Yeboah-Asuama, Apostle David Nyansah Hayfron, Mr. Richard Dugan, etc.

The Chaplaincy also collaborate with the Counselling Unit to provide counselling services and spiritual support for students and staff of the University college. The College Counsellors offer guidance and counselling services on academics, social, psychological and spiritual issues. We help students and staff to explore their lives with meaning and purpose. We also foster a good relationship among students and lecturers. We organize Relationship Summit for the students and staff once every semester. This is done to give an appropriate platform for the students to channel their relationship challenges for redress. Here other relationship experts are engaged to help students deal with relationship issues as well as avoid a negative relationship.

Moreover, the Chaplaincy creates a platform for the students to interact with Entrepreneurs who have made it in life. This we do by organizing an entrepreneurial forum for students once every semester. We also engage other professionals in various disciplines to share their skills and experiences with the students. We organize a programme dubbed: “LIFE EMPHASIS” where prominent individuals in society are invited to share their lives with the students and staff.

More importantly, the Chaplaincy also coordinates the Mentorship Programme on campus. This programme offers the students the opportunity to learn from Mentors assigned to them during a particular semester. These mentors serve as role models and life coach for the students.

One of the rewards of pursuing a higher education at Pentecost University College is a unique opportunity for spiritual growth. By instilling a spirit of purpose in all aspects of daily life, PUC Chaplaincy strengthens character and helps clarify the direction for students as they advance their educational and career goals.

Finally, the Chaplaincy Board also coordinate all denominational and spiritual groups and their activities on campus. This is to ensure that students do not use all their time only on spiritual activities but would be prudent in the management of their time in order not to suffer loss at the expense of spirituality. Leaders of other Christian denomination are consulted and have their programmes streamlined to ensure a balance in their activities.

It is our hope that the good LORD who is the Captain and Commander in chief of this University College will grant us the needed grace to help us raise the spiritual standard of the University so that it becomes a place where lives are empowered for service.
