The creation of the Advancement Office, operating directly under the Office of the Rector, is an innovation of the Management of Pentecost University College and came into existence in June, 2017. It originated from the view that the laudable mission and vision of the University College can only be promoted and sustained effectively when all stakeholders are mobilised to play their appropriate roles. Thus, the Office is mandated to brand the University by improving the visibility of PUC and telling PUCs life-changing stories to our stakeholders and the entire world. This is why we consider our work to cover such areas of need as Fundraising, Public Relations, PUC-Alumni Relations, and PUC-Industry Relations, Sponsorships, and Students’ admission drive. We function by encouraging team-work across Faculties, Departments and all Offices of the University.
Units under the Advancement Office
The core group of offices that I supervise include Advancement proper, Public Relations, and Alumni/International Relations. I am very pleased with the attitude, expertise and the dedication of the staff with whom I have been privileged to work. I am equally satisfied with the cooperation I enjoy from those staff from outside the core group with whom the Office has been associated.
Public Relations: This is headed by Dr. Daniel Nkrumah who has vast knowledge and contacts in the field of Public Relations and Journalism. He truly brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from his long service as PR practitioner, having worked as a journalist with the Graphic Group. His work includes direct supervision of staff, including interns and National Service personnel who deal with our needs in communication design
Alumni/International Relations: This Unit is headed by Ps. Eric Nana Adobah Thompson. He was the first SRC president of Pentecost University College, a staff member with the history of PUC at his fingertips. His love and concern for people endear him to current students as well as past students, making the work of Advancement easy to execute.
Advancement Office: This is managed by Miss Priscilla Ayebea Davies. She comes to the job with fresh enthusiasm, dedication and spirit of hard work in all our commitments, making the Office attractive and progressive.
Challenges
The Advancement Office concept is gradually gaining acceptance in Ghanaian universities. To meet our commitments adequately, there is the need for us to widen our sponsoring/donor base; complete building our robust alumni database; get our radio station running, and intensify our strategies for marketing PUC on several fronts in the face of the competition we face from private as well as public universities as we work to attract funding from donor agencies.
