PU Staff Retreat Commences in Grand Style
Staff of Pentecost University have begun the 2024 mid-year retreat in earnest. The two-day retreat is taking place between Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June 2024 on the University’s main campus in Sowutuom, Accra.
In opening the retreat, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Aps. Prof Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua entreated the staff to strengthen their belief in God and invest in prayer. He described the believe in God as” a code that has the power to transform.” With reference to Acts 5:12-17 of the Bible, Aps. Agyapong-Kodua said the iron door of the city was opened to Peter to walk out of prison because “there was a Church engulfed in intensive prayer.”
In the first sermon for the first day, Rev. Dr. Patrick Adonoo, Head for the Department of Philosophy, Politics and Economics challenged the staff and Christians in general to be “unleashed.” In further exposition, the Reverend Minister said the Holy Spirit is the power behind the unleashing. He added that, “like a mother hen, the Holy Spirit has brooded over us and produced His own kind in us. So we don’t become better versions of ourselves but kinds of the Holy Spirit Himself.” With this power, “we need to move from being released to another level of being unleashed for the impact that God himself want us to make.”…Dr. Adonoo said.
In the second part of Day 1, Elder Dr. Bismark Owusu Skyere-Adu described God as the “embodiment of excellence.” Speaking on “unleashed for excellence,” Dr. Sekyere-Adu charged the staff to emulate Daniel as contained in Daniel Chapter 6:8 of the bible and make excellence an attitude in their work environment.
Staff Retreat is a formal activity on the Pentecost University calendar used for equipping members for both spiritually and intellectually for academic work.
