Pentecost University Hosts Exhibition
Pentecost University is hosting a two-week exhibition on its campus from Monday 18th to Saturday 30th January 2021. It is dubbed Pentecost University Big Sales (PUBS).
This is intended to bring together vendors of diverse categories of products to campus. The categories include stationery, computers and accessories, banking, food, fashion, cosmetics, kitchen, and sanitary ware.
According to the Business and Corporate Affairs Manager of the University, Dr. Patrick Adonoo, the PUBS’ idea was initiated to accomplish three main objectives. The first is to reduce the traffic of students going back to town for shopping after they report to campus. This Dr. Adonoo said has a far-reaching benefit of minimizing the risk of students contracting Covid-19 in the course of shopping.
The second objective is to offer students discounted prices for all goods. The BDCA Manager said, “we understand the current circumstances under which families have to raise money to fund their wards’ education; so we have negotiated with all vendors in this exhibition and they have discounted their prices; for example, a dress that is 50 cedis on the market is 15% lower at the exhibition.”
The third and final reason is to aid small businesses to grow. January being the first month after Christmas normally experiences low business activities for much small business. This fair would change the narrative for the fortunate companies who got the pass to be part of the PUBS.
Both vendors and patrons have expressed satisfaction with the exhibition so far.
According to Mrs. Patience Duffour the Fidelity Bank Manager at Abeka who led a sales team to the exhibition, the bank gets 40 accounts a day at the exhibition.
A patron and level 400 student, Senam Tamaklo said she bought beads and a money purse “at a price lower than what is outside”
The patrons also expressed satisfaction with the strict adherence to the covid-19 protocols on campus.
