In a historic move poised to reshape the future of education in Ghana, the Vice Chancellor of Pentecost University (University A+), Apostle Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, has officially cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern campus in the Western Region.

The ceremony which was held at the project site, was graced by the Western Regional Coordinator of The Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Sylvester Arhin; Area Head of Sekondi, Apostle ADP Tetteh; Dean of Pentecost University’s (PU) Faculty of Engineering, Aps Professor Joseph Buertey; PU’s Finance Director, Dr Abraham Nyebar; Head of PU’s Nursing Department, Mrs Agnes Cudjoe and Coordinators, Mama Sabina and Paa Kofi; Head of the Law Department of PU, Pastor Lawyer Koomson; Representative of the Chief of Mpintsin; some PU Management and staff, several pastors of CoP, students, and local community members. This significant development is expected to have a transformative impact on the region’s educational landscape.

The new campus will span several acres and feature state-of-the-art facilities, including modern learning spaces, advanced laboratories, and spacious lecture halls, aimed at enhancing the academic experience of students.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the leadership of the church and the Area for the donation of the land and emphasized the importance of the new campus in helping the “possessing the nation’s agenda” of the church. He indicated how the new campus will enable the university to achieve its mission of becoming a leading global centre of excellence in education and research. He stated, “This campus will serve as a beacon of learning and innovation, contributing to the academic growth of students and the socio-economic development of the region.”

The Western Regional Coordinator and the Sekondi Area Head, on their part thanked the university for accepting the task of expanding to the region and pledged their support for the project.

The Western Region known for its growing industrial and commercial activities, has long faced a gap in higher education opportunities. The establishment of PU’s new campus aims to bridge this gap and help meet the growing demand for quality higher education, producing highly skilled graduates who can contribute to the region’s development.

The project will be completed in two phases, with an estimated timeline of twelve months. The new campus promises to be a hub of innovation, research, and academic excellence, attracting students from across Ghana and beyond.

With this bold step, University A+ has reaffirmed its position as a leader in the academic community and a key contributor to the growth of Ghana’s educational system. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the university’s history, and the Western Region is now set to experience the transformative power of education, paving the way for future generations of scholars, leaders, and professionals.
