Pentecost University Celebrates Christmas with Orphans at Bodwiase Orphanage
Pentecost University staff celebrated Christmas at the Country Side Welfare Home, also known as Bodwiase Orphanage in Ewuttu Bodwiase, near Kasoa in the Central Region. This happened on Saturday 25th December 2021.
The team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Aps. Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua also included the Registrar Mr. Foster Amoani; Pentecost University Chaplain, Rev Nelson Adu; Acting Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Abraham Nyebar and other members of staff. They spent quality time and interacted with staff and children of the orphanage.
A critical part of the visit was the donation of assorted Christmas gifts to the orphanage. The University donated items such as bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, boxes of soft drinks, sanitary items, cash and many more. In handing over the items, the Vice-Chancellor said, “the University found it necessary to put a smile on the faces of deprived children in the manner Christ would have done.” He added that, “we chose the Country Side Welfare Home to support the efforts of the Management, and The Church of Pentecost to serve underprivileged children.” Prof. Agyapong-Kodua encouraged the older ones who were qualified to apply to the Pentecost University for their tertiary education.
Mr. Humphrey Patterson and the District Pastor of Rev. Ebenezer Tawiah-Mensah, who received the items on behalf of the founder of the orphanage, Madam Emma Boafo, commended the University for the gesture. He said the interaction with the children and the donation were timely. They further commended the Vice Chancellor and his team for the initiative, being the first of its kind from a tertiary educational institution.
