Alswel Annan of 2019 graduating class has been named London Model United Nations (LIMUN) Ambassador for the academic year of 2021.

His appointment comes on the back of his continuous support and commitment towards the Model United Nations (MUN) especially as the world suffers the COVID-19 pandemic.

In these trying times, the MUN is highly appreciative of the fact that Mr Annan has provided them with an excellent outline of contacts, ideas and plans and they believe it is long overdue to confer on him this highly sought after ambassadorial position.

The former SRC President of the Pentecost University has made his name in the arena of student politics by challenging policies and the status quo. He rose through the ranks right from being the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Communication Students Association (CSA) to the President of the association and also doubled as the Speaker of Parliament of the Pentvars SRC.

The student activist nurtured his love for student welfare and moved to become the SRC President of the Pentecost University. Alswel’s passion for politics did not end after completing his tenure of office at the school.

His burning desire to cause reforms in the educational policies of private institutions made him contest for the Presidency of Private Universities Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) and he has made great strides in his office.

Ambassador Alswel brings to the table a wealth of experience from having served in various leadership positions in both the arena of academia and business.

The new LIMUN Ambassador for the 2020/21 academic year, will be the national representative of LIMUN in Ghana and will also be responsible for event preparation, liaising with prospect delegates, handling delegate enquiries, and ensuring LIMUN promotion inside the geographic region of Ghana.

Mr Alswel Annan who began his student leadership and political career from Pentecost University expressed sincere gratitude to Pentvars Community.

“I’m very grateful to Pentecost University Management and Students. In fact, I can’t thank them enough for the tremendous love and support since I started my student leadership career. Pentvars granted me the opportunity and audience, I am eternally grateful and pray for God’s blessings upon them. What Pentvars has done for me, I can’t pay for it” – he expressed.

Being an ambassador gives him the opportunity to join a huge network of worldwide MUNers. He can also get exclusive access to initiatives such as the LIMUN Academy, gain shoutouts in their Instagram account and be eligible for discounts in a possible in-person conference during the year of 2021.

The young politician & communication strategist is currently the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Joy4Fame Shipping Company Limited and doubles as the coordinator for Joy4Fame foundation

About Model UN

Model UN is a popular activity for those interested in learning more about how the UN operates. Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business and the arts – including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as a student.

The United Nations Model UN Programme aims to build and maintain strong links between the UN and Model UN participants across the globe.
It does that through guides and workshops, which teach students how to make their simulations more accurate; by visiting Model UN conferences and sharing firsthand knowledge of what the actual UN is like; and through encouraging Model UN clubs to take real action to support UN values and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
