Pro Vice-Chancellor Eulogizes Founding Fathers of Pentecost University
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Pro VC) of Pentecost University, Prof. Kwame Boasiako Omane-Antwi has eulogized the past leaders and pioneering members of Pentecost University for their sacrifice and commitment to the University.
He paid the tributes when he appeared on Asem Bi Show on Pent TV hosted by J B Danquah, on Monday 7th June 2021 in connection with the one-year anniversary of the receipt of the Pentecost University Charter.
According to Prof. Omane-Antwi, people who worked tirelessly to start and lift the institution from a Bible Center through to the University status deserve to be celebrated.
Among some of the names he mentioned were Apostle Michael Ntumy, under whose leadership as Chairman of The Church of Pentecost at the time that Pentecost Universirty College received accreditation, Aps. Michael M. Kopah, who was a Principal shortly before the institution became a University College, Aps. Prof. Opoku Onyinah the first Rector and later Chairman of The Church of Pentecost.
Others included Aps. Peter Ohene Kyei, a former rector and Aps. Dr. Daniel Walker, the immediate past Rector/Vice-Chancellor among other faculty members and administrative cadre. Prof. Omane- Antwi also expressed appreciation to past Chairmen and Aps. Eric Nyamekye, the current Chairman of the CoP for diverse support to the University.
He added that “the legacies these heroes are bequeathed to a young vibrant Vice-Chancellor who has so far demonstrated enough competence in driving the next phase of the University.
Aps. Dr. Christian Tsekpoe, Head of Missions Department of the School of Theology, Missions & Leadership (STML) of PU, who was a co-panelist on the show, in turn paid glowing tribute to Prof. Omane-Antwi.
He said Prof’s meritorious service to the University has earned him a special place in its history. Aps. Dr. Tsekpoe said ” at the beginning, Prof. Omane-Antwi mentioned individuals who are heroes of the University, but that list cannot end without himself. This is because he has given so much of his intellect to ensure that the University works.”
He added that “I can say Prof. Omane-Antwi played the part of the captain in the charter application process; and ensured that the University indeed got it. This among others make him one of the University’s most prominent legends.”
Pentecost University received Presidential Charter effective June 1, 2020. One year down the line, the University has rebranded, increased students’ enrolment, expanding infrastructure among.
