Pentecost University Inaugurates Centre for the Study of Unreached People’s Groups
Pentecost University has launched a centre to study unreached people groups in Africa. The Centre known as the Pentecost Centre for the Study of Unreached People’s Groups-Africa (PCUPG-Africa) is a collaboration between the Pentecost University and The Church of Pentecost’s Home and Urban Mission (HUM).
Speaking at the launch, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua said God had reached all people groups in the world. Therefore, the centre will be a research and training hub to equip individuals to follow God’s footprints in all people groups in the nations. The VC assured that the University would equip the Centre with cutting-edge research materials and space to churn out relevant data for the spread of the gospel. “Apart from that, the research and data from the Centre will be useful for social transformation and economic empowerment of people considered unreached”… Prof. Agyapong-Kodua added.
On his part, the National Coordinator for HUM, Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo underscored the need for the study and engagement with people considered as unreached. Speaking in respect of spreading the gospel of God, Aps. Kwafo said there are many people, who, due to prejudices, location, tribe, economic classification etc, have been neglected. As such, there’s the need to deliberately study, understand, and map out effective missionary strategies to reach them. He added that ” research has shown that such neglected groups are more willing to hear the gospel than perceived.” Citing multiple statistics, Aps. Kwafo said the global data on Christianity would vary significantly as PU, HUM and other Christian bodies make efforts to reach the unreached.
The Pentecost Centre for the Study of Unreached People’s Groups Africa is under the Department of Mission at the Pentecost School of Theology and Mission of PU. This is the latest addition to the Centres and Institutes after the launch of the Institute of Leadership and Governance earlier this year. The Centres and Institutes are intended to drive the research-led University model of PU.
